Wonder-Maker She Was  (poema solo en Ingles)

Amanda Huggins

Her earth-rumbling homeland erupted
into a million tongues of Chilean fire
and forced Consuelo into exile,
unbiddable, unbreakable,
writing poetry with life blood,
fighting for justice with words which could not be tamed.
Her words talked of hope, of the Palestinian women
growing flowers in the skeletons of grenades
despite all they had lost.

Her words talked of love, of her wild unstoppable love,
of oceans of skin, thirsty pink roses
and the glorious mess of that endless sweetness.

Her words talked of women, her women,
of passionate fighters,
furious and generous as Pachamama,
crazy and wonderful.

Wonder-makers we are, she said,
and the courage and strength
in her words were unstoppable.
Wonder-maker she truly was;
her light will remain undimmed.
